New PM Burnham expected at Balmoral for traditional summer audience with the King

King Charles was expected to host new Prime Minister Andy Burnham and his wife Marie-France van Hell at Balmoral Castle in summer 2026 for the traditional summer weekend visit the monarch extends to the head of government. The weekly audience — the private meeting between sovereign and prime minister — follows the King to Balmoral, as do the daily red boxes of state papers.
