Champion jockey Jim Crowley retires after York fall injuries

Former champion jockey Jim Crowley, 48, retired from race riding on 1 August 2026 at Goodwood, ten months after sustaining pelvic and leg fractures in a fall at York. Despite multiple operations and a vow to return, his body could not reach the required level. He said: "It's the most difficult decision of my life."
