136 FIFA Members Reject Infantino's World Cup Stake Sale Plan

136 of FIFA's 211 member associations have officially rejected Gianni Infantino's plan to sell stakes in the World Cup. Infantino called the proposal "not an obligation" on 29 July. The rebuke lands months before his March bid for a fourth term. He stood unopposed in 2019 and 2023. Africa, Conmebol and Oceania have not criticised the plan.
