49,000 Migrants Enter Spanish Exclave of Ceuta in One Day

Some 49,000 migrants crossed from Morocco into Ceuta — a Spanish territory on North Africa's coast — in 24 hours, Spain's Interior Ministry said. That's nearly 59% of Ceuta's 83,600 residents. At least 7,000 were minors; 18 died en route in preceding days. Spain's Supreme Court had barred summary sea returns to Morocco in early July 2026, requiring individual asylum review.
