AC Milan legend Franco Baresi dies aged 66

Franco Baresi has died at 66, AC Milan announced on 31 July 2026. "Milan is in tears," the club posted. A sweeper — the last line of defence — Baresi spent his entire 20-year career at Milan, making 719 appearances, winning six Serie A titles and three European Cups. He had lung surgery in August 2025. His number six shirt was retired in 2024.
