England snatches men's team pursuit gold from Australia with Games record on day one in Glasgow

England rode a Commonwealth Games record of 3:47.092 to beat Australia in the men's 4000m team pursuit final on day one of Glasgow 2026 track cycling. Australia clocked 3:48.223 despite fielding two Paris Olympic champions, Oliver Bleddyn and Conor Leahy. Australia had posted the fastest qualifying time across all three team events but delivered none in the finals.
