Producer sues Netflix for $105M after stolen drive holds only copy of Cage WWII film

Swiss producer Simon Afram sued Netflix for $105 million in the Central District of California on 30 July 2026, per Variety. An unencrypted DCP of "Fortitude" — a $45 million WWII film starring Nicolas Cage and Ben Kingsley — was stolen from Netflix desks after an associate producer dropped it off for a rights screening. Netflix disputes bearing the risk of loss for a film delivered "without the proper industry-standard safeguards."
