Diablo IV adds Soul Splinters: socketable items with major bonuses and steep penalties

Blizzard's Diablo IV 3.2.0 PTR, running August 4–11, 2025, introduces Soul Splinters — a new socketable item type slotted into jewelry across five rarities. Each pairs a strong bonus with a penalty: the Splinter of Hellfire grants 35–625 Resistance to All Elements and 40–100% increased damage but removes 100% Critical Strike Chance. Splinters are upgradeable via the returning Horadric Cube.
