Disney Sells 50% Stake in A+E Global Media to Hearst for Over $1 Billion

Disney is selling its 50% stake in A+E Global Media — parent of A&E, History and Lifetime — to co-owner Hearst for more than $1 billion in cash, per Deadline. The deal gives Hearst full ownership of the cable portfolio. Paul Buccieri continues as President and Chairman. Disney CFO Hugh Johnston said in May 2026 that Disney did not plan to sell linear TV networks.
