ZeniMax Online Studios hit by layoffs ahead of Elder Scrolls Online roadmap update

ZeniMax Online Studios underwent layoffs shortly before publishing an updated 2026 content roadmap for The Elder Scrolls Online on 30 July. The number of roles affected has not been disclosed. The roadmap confirmed Update 51, delayed one week to 28 September, still brings the 'Nowhere Vault' challenge and 'Rumors' system. An ESO executive stated the studio is 'not looking to just maintain the game.'
