Trump may withdraw Todd Blanche's attorney general nomination while keeping him as acting AG, using a federal law letting the deputy serve indefinitely. Two Republican senators blocking confirmation — Cornyn and Tillis — leave Congress in January 2027. Trump said he'd resubmit "after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office." The Senate Judiciary Committee canceled a July 30 vote.
