John Legend cast as Harry Belafonte in Bill Condon's 'The Road Home,' now in production

John Legend will play Harry Belafonte in "The Road Home," a Bill Condon film about Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba during Paul Simon's Apartheid-era South African tour. Variety reported the casting on 30 July 2026. The film is in production. Thabo Rametsi plays Masekela, Cynthia Erivo plays Makeba, Guy Pearce plays Archbishop Trevor Huddleston. Backers are Canal+, Studiocanal and Flora Films.
