IFPI begins first global rules for AI-made recordings on official music charts

IFPI has begun applying the first coordinated global rules governing when an AI-made recording can qualify for official music chart placement, MBW and Billboard report. The framework, proposed 29 July 2025 by Sony, Universal, Warner and eight independents, is live across Latin American, MENA, Southeast Asia and South Africa charts. IFPI is working to extend it to 20-plus more, including ARIA, SNEP and Circle.
