Fleming appointed England Test head coach after McCullum sacking

Stephen Fleming, 53, was confirmed as England's men's Test head coach on 30 July 2026, the unanimous pick of an ECB panel led by managing director Rob Key. Fleming won five IPL titles across 18 years at Chennai Super Kings but has never coached a national side. He replaces Brendon McCullum, sacked after Ashes failure and a home series defeat to New Zealand. Fleming takes charge for December's South Africa tour; Marcus Trescothick covers the Pakistan series starting 19 August.
