Simone Forti, postmodern dance pioneer, dies at 91 in Los Angeles

Simone Forti, the Italian American dancer and choreographer born in Florence in 1935, has died at 91 in Los Angeles. Her death was announced by Raffaella Cortese, her Milan gallery, Artforum reported; ARTnews confirmed the news on 30 July 2026. Forti received the Venice Biennale's Golden Lion and was the subject of a survey at MOCA in Los Angeles.
