Amazon MGM Studios dropped Luca Guadagnino's 'Artificial' in summer 2025, months after Amazon entered a $50 billion investment with OpenAI, per The Hollywood Reporter. Variety called the film 'nearly finished' at the time. An Amazon spokesperson told THR the film 'would be better served if released by a different studio.' Neon closed a distribution deal on 30 June 2026, per Variety.
