AMC's Aron backs Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery merger, splitting with cinema trade body chief

AMC CEO Adam Aron endorsed the proposed Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery merger in a Variety column on 29 July 2026, calling it "should be welcomed and celebrated" and "a step forward." Cinema United chief Michael O'Leary blasted the deal the same day. The split pits the world's largest exhibitor against its own trade body as U.S. regulators have already cleared the combination.
