Kai Taylor wins 200m freestyle gold from lane one at Commonwealth Games

Australia's Kai Taylor, 22, won men's 200m freestyle gold at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games on 29 July 2026, finishing in 1:45.22 from lane one — the outside lane, traditionally the least favourable. He beat England's James Guy and Wales's Matt Richards, who shared silver in 1:45.72, by 0.50 seconds.
