
Film financier Jason Cloth indicted on $100 million Ponzi scheme charges in Chicago
Jason Cloth, 60, executive producer of 'Joker' and 'Babylon,' was arrested in Los Angeles on 29 July 2026 after a federal grand jury in Chicago indicted him on seven counts of wire fraud, each carrying up to 20 years. Prosecutors allege he diverted $100 million in investor funds earmarked for film and gaming projects to repay earlier investors in a Canadian real estate venture, Variety reports. The indictment seeks $12.25 million in reimbursement; the FBI is seeking additional victims.
