Sony, Universal, Warner and eight independents propose six chart-eligibility conditions for AI-assisted recordings

On 29 July 2026, eleven companies — Sony, Universal, Warner, Believe, BMG, Concord, Dirty Hit, Glassnote, HYBE, Mom+Pop and Partisan — jointly proposed that generative-AI recordings clear six hurdles for chart eligibility: lawful AI tools, substantial human authorship, no stream manipulation, legal compliance on copyright and personality rights, no breach of the AI service's terms, and consumer disclosure on streaming platforms. Chart compilers have not adopted the principles.
