Shankland named Rangers captain two months after arriving from Hearts
Rangers have named Lawrence Shankland captain for the 2026/27 season, barely two months after the 30-year-old Scotland striker joined from rivals Hearts. Shankland, a lifelong Rangers supporter, said the role exceeded his dream of playing for the club. He succeeds James Tavernier, who held the armband for 11 years. At Hearts, Shankland scored 88 goals in 171 appearances and was also captain.
