ABC Renews American Idol for Season 25, Slated for Early 2027 Premiere

ABC has renewed American Idol for Season 25, Fremantle and 19 Entertainment's singing competition now set for an early 2027 premiere. The franchise launched on Fox in 2002; ABC revived it in 2018. Season 24 judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood and host Ryan Seacrest have not been confirmed to return. Auditions open August 25. (Variety, 29 July 2026)
