Joey King replaces Evan Rachel Wood in Practical Magic 2 as original star says she offered to return for one scene

Joey King takes over the role of Kylie Owens in Practical Magic 2, played by Evan Rachel Wood in the 1998 original; Maisie Williams replaces Alexandra Artrip as the younger sister. Wood told ET the sequel "seems like they're not following the book." She posted on Instagram that she "offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line" and "was told they are recasting" (The Hollywood Reporter, 29 July 2026).
