Willie Nelson, 93, posted a statement on X on 28 July 2026 opposing data centres near his hometown of Abbott, Texas, calling them "loud, water thieving, light polluting." He warned the facilities "steal farmland" and "destroy the environment around them," and urged rural communities to fight their construction. Nelson co-founded Farm Aid in 1985.
