HFPA sues Penske Media for $150 million over Golden Globes takeover

The HFPA filed an antitrust lawsuit against Penske Media Corporation in federal court in Los Angeles on 28 July 2026, seeking at least $150 million in damages. The suit alleges PMC seized control of the Golden Globe Awards through a "sham process tainted by fraud." PMC, which owns Variety, denied the allegations and stated the 2023 transaction received all required approvals.
