Scandinavia wins Goodwood Cup by eight-and-a-half lengths despite loose-horse chaos

Scandinavia, trained by Aidan O'Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore, won the Group One Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup on 28 July 2026 by eight-and-a-half lengths. The race was disrupted when Amiloc unseated Hector Crouch at the start and led riderless for much of the contest before veering across Scandinavia and Trawlerman with three furlongs left. Scandinavia, already an Ascot Gold Cup winner over Trawlerman, quickened clear once the loose horse cleared. First prize was £283,550.
