Hadi Matar declines to testify or call witnesses; Rushdie stabbing terrorism trial goes to jury

Hadi Matar, 28, declined to testify or call witnesses Tuesday in his federal terrorism trial in Buffalo, N.Y., for the 2022 stabbing of Salman Rushdie. Prosecutors rested the same day. Closing arguments are expected Wednesday morning. Matar, already convicted of state attempted murder and sentenced to 25 years, pleaded not guilty to federal charges including an act of transnational terrorism.
