Matador to Release Alice Coltrane's Ashram Tapes in Full for First Time

Matador Records will release four Alice Coltrane devotional albums — Turiya Sings, Divine Songs, Infinite Chants and Glorious Chants — recorded at her ashram outside Los Angeles in the 1980s and 1990s. Originally pressed on cassette and shared only among ashram members, the tapes have never been publicly released in complete form. Matador's edition will span vinyl, CD and digital. No street date has been set, according to Pitchfork and The Line of Best Fit.
