Hulu acquires animated comedy pitch 'Detective Agent Derek'

Hulu has acquired the animated comedy pitch "Detective Agent Derek," per Deadline (28 July 2026). The show is a prestige cop drama filtered through internet subcultures, following a nunchuck-wielding, anime-obsessed detective nobody takes seriously. Creators Nick Kreiss, Julian Bonosconi and Griffin Poole executive produce with Douglas Banker and Conor Welch. No episode count, release window or premiere date has been disclosed. Hulu declined to comment.
