White House Calls Smithsonian Untrustworthy, Orders Warning Signs at History Museum

A White House Domestic Policy Council report concluded the Smithsonian "cannot be trusted to tell America's story honestly." President Trump's July 24 executive order directs the Interior Department to install warning signs outside the National Museum of American History. The Smithsonian is federally funded but governed by an independent 17-member Board of Regents. Spokeswoman Julissa Marenco cited 180 years of nonpartisan scholarship.
