Ineos chose Onley over Evenepoel — then Onley missed the Tour through injury

Remco Evenepoel said a move to Ineos "was close to being done." Ineos signed Oscar Onley instead. Onley, injured in June, missed the 2026 Tour entirely. Evenepoel, riding for Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, finished second overall — his best Tour result. The Olympic road race and time-trial champion delivered; the rider Ineos picked did not start.
