Two former Booker winners longlisted for 2026 prize, chasing rare double

Douglas Stuart (2020 winner, *Shuggie Bain*) and Marlon James (2015, *A Brief History of Seven Killings*) were longlisted on 28 July 2026 — Stuart for *John of John*, James for *The Disappearers*. Only four authors have won the Booker twice: JM Coetzee, Peter Carey, Hilary Mantel and Margaret Atwood. The 13-book longlist was drawn from 163 submissions.
