Oliver Tree's Mother Recalls Final FaceTime at July 25 Memorial

Oliver Tree's mother, Christine Nickell, told his July 25 memorial in Santa Cruz that their final exchange was a FaceTime call: she had texted to ask how his effort to quit smoking was going, and he responded by blowing cigarette smoke into the camera. He died the next day, June 14, in a two-helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro that killed six people. He was 32.
