Zidane appointed France head coach, succeeding Deschamps

Zinedine Zidane has been appointed head coach of France, the French Football Federation announced on 28 July. The 54-year-old, a World Cup winner as a player in 1998, takes over from Didier Deschamps on 1 September. His contract runs through the 2030 World Cup qualifiers. First competitive match: a Nations League trip to Turkey on 25 September.
