FIA ADUO ruling gives Mercedes extra power unit development room while locking Red Bull out

Mercedes, already 72 points clear in the constructors' championship with eight wins from eleven races, have qualified for FIA power unit upgrades under the ADUO system. Red Bull were ruled ineligible — their engine rated best, but on internal combustion output alone, not total output including the hybrid element. Mercedes' full power unit is rated the class of the field.
