The Chi aired its series finale on Showtime after eight seasons. Premiering 18 January 2018, the South Side Chicago drama from creator Lena Waithe is the longest-running Black ensemble drama in premium cable history and one of Showtime's longest-running shows, per The Hollywood Reporter. Waithe was the first Black woman to win an Emmy for comedy writing.
