
Odyssey translator Nolan cited inverts his own inspiration to title her takedown: 'An Uncomplicated Man'
Christopher Nolan cited Emily Wilson's translation of Homer's opening line — 'Tell me about a complicated man' — in interviews for his $250 million Odyssey film. Wilson has now published a critique in the London Review of Books titled 'An Uncomplicated Man,' writing she 'would be ashamed to have written any part of this script' (Deadline, 27 July 2026).
