Pirlo dropped from Italy coach running over Russian betting firm deal
Andrea Pirlo confirmed on Instagram he is "no longer the candidate" for the Italy job. FIGC president Giovanni Malagò dropped him after examining his ambassador role with Russian betting firm Fonbet. Opposition came from European Parliament vice-president Pina Picierno and Senate head Ignazio La Russa. Italy, who missed a third straight World Cup, are still searching for a coach.
