Earthworks begin at Macquarie Point for $1.13 billion AFL stadium

Preparatory earthworks started at Hobart's Macquarie Point for the $1.13 billion AFL stadium. Hazell Bros is moving roughly 100,000 cubic metres of soil, with trucks leaving every eight minutes, per managing director Geoffrey Hazell. Works run to mid-2027. The Tasmania Devils enter the AFL in 2028; the stadium is due late 2030.
