Pogačar wins fifth Tour de France, joins cycling's five-win elite

Tadej Pogačar (UAE Emirates XRG) won his fifth Tour de France on 26 July 2026, equalling the all-time record held by Anquetil, Merckx, Hinault and Induráin. Aged 27, the Slovenian won five stages, set record times on the Tourmalet and Alpe d'Huez, and beat Remco Evenepoel by 6 minutes 26 seconds. Eddy Merckx told Het Nieuwsblad: "He will soon break our record."
