Tour de France final stage cut to 89 km as wildfires force emergency-service redeployment

Tour organisers shortened the 2026 final stage from 133 km to 89 km on July 25, confining racing to Paris, so police and medical teams could be redeployed to fight wildfires in southern France. Nearly 200,000 people were evacuated from the fire-stricken region. Riders still completed three ascents of Montmartre and Champs-Élysées laps. Tadej Pogačar was crowned champion for a fifth time.
