Joe Gomez lasted just eight minutes of Liverpool's 4-2 pre-season friendly win over Sunderland in Nashville on 25 July 2026 before a shoulder injury forced him off. Manager Andoni Iraola called it "probably the worst news" from the match. Iraola had already said Liverpool have "obvious" gaps to address in the transfer market.
