Burnham fast-tracks social care review as immigration curbs target migrant workforce
Prime Minister Andy Burnham is advancing Louise Casey's review of England's social care sector from 2028 to an earlier date. The move follows Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood's proposal to extend migrant care workers' path to settled status — permanent residency — to 15 years. With roughly 200,000 care visas issued in five years, the sector depends heavily on migrant labor.
