Venezuela Moves to Leave the ICC Under Interim President Rodriguez

Venezuela told the UN on July 24, 2026 it is leaving the International Criminal Court, the body that prosecutes individuals for war crimes and similar offenses. Foreign Minister Plasencia called the decision "irrevocable." Interim President Rodriguez ordered the exit after the US removed Maduro in a January 2026 military operation. The ICC still has an active probe into Venezuela's 2017 protest crackdown, and withdrawal does not immediately end its jurisdiction over that period.
