
Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta Push Back on Open-Weight AI Rules; OpenAI and Anthropic Decline
On July 24, 2026, Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, Palantir, and 20+ companies signed a joint letter urging policymakers to avoid "premature restrictions" on open-weight AI models — systems whose trained parameters are publicly released for anyone to inspect or build on.
