Ascot has announced the 2027 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes will carry a £2.5 million purse — a British record for a single race. The 2026 running already holds the track's high-water mark at £2 million. The 2027 figure places the midsummer middle-distance contest among the world's richest turf races, close to the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and the Breeders' Cup Turf. Ascot confirmed the figure alongside 2025 financial results showing record £118.6 million turnover and £10.5 million pre-tax profit.
