Grynspan Extends Lead in UN Secretary-General Straw Poll

Costa Rica's Rebeca Grynspan received 12 votes in favour and 3 against in an informal UN Security Council straw poll, Reuters reported November 5. It was her strongest showing across eight closed-door ballots. Straw polls are non-binding votes that signal preferences; the council's formal recommendation for the next secretary-general has not yet been made.
