Ottawa announces extension of federal gas tax cut to end of March

The federal government has announced an extension of its gas tax cut, the reduction in federal tax on gasoline, until the end of March. The cost to federal revenue is about $2.9 billion. Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne said "Affordability is top of mind" ahead of the Nov. 5 budget.
