Commons committee warns of Notre Dame-style fire risk at Palace of Westminster

A cross-party Commons committee warns the Palace of Westminster faces a risk of a Notre Dame-style fire, the Paris cathedral blaze, or a similar catastrophe unless MPs resolve how its restoration is funded. Fire risk comes mainly from outdated electrics. The committee, chaired by Conservative MP Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, says each year of delay adds an estimated £420 million.
