EU and Canada Launch 'Alliance for the Future' at Montreal Summit

At a summit in Montreal on 29-30 October 2026, the EU and Canada launched an 'Alliance for the Future'. The joint statement says they will build on their Strategic Partnership Agreement to create an even closer association. Canada is reportedly preparing to become the EU's first 'associate member', a term without legal basis and contested by some EU states.
